KURT’S BIO
I grew up in the West and the South, lived in Japan for four years, and settled down in NYC, somewhat. Writing and coaching is something one can do from almost anywhere, so I spend a good amount of time out of town. Iran might be a good place to visit next, I’m thinking.
WRITER and EDITOR
I’ve been writing professionally for more than twenty years now, articles, stories, speeches and scripts -- even a book. Currently in the works is a full-length play, a novel/memoir, and a non-fiction book. (There are clips and excerpts here, at KurtOpprecht.com.)
COACH
I’m a certified coach in the Coaching For Transformation (CFT) method, which emphasizes empowering the client’s independence. I find it to be an excellent approach for creative spirits.
TEACHER
I currently teach live classes and online for Gotham Writer’s Workshop in New York City, and run the Bananafish Writer’s Groups at Meetup.com.
NONSENSE
When I’m not taking myself and my clients seriously, I do street theater and political action with various groups, including Billionaires for Bush and the Mystical Frog Reserves.
